History
The 11th Annual Sterling Awards was held Friday, April 30th at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre. Two hundred and fifty people gathered to celebrate excellence in business and to salute the finalists in the 11 award categories. Click here for a list of 2010 award recipients.
Bruce Williams was the emcee for the evening and kept the show moving smoothly, before turning over the microphone to accept the Citizen of the Year Award. Bruce was honoured in recognition of his tireless work on behalf of many charitable and non-profit organizations all over Vancouver Island, too numerous to mention.
Special recognition was given posthumously to Alex Marriott aka “The Big Guy” who was taken from us far too soon. Receiving the award on his behalf was his son Matt.
The evening was a tremendous success. The award recipients were recognized for their contribution to business excellence in Nanaimo and the vibrancy and optimism in Nanaimo’s business community was apparent to all.
The Vancouver Island Conference Centre was the perfect setting for this celebration, the audio/visual display was impressive and the dessert extravaganza was delectable.
Feedback has been tremendously positive.
