Purpose: Executive Committee sits as an advisory to the Board of Directors.


FINANCE AND BUDGET COMMITTEE

Chair: Mike Delves
Members: Executive Committee

Purpose: To routinely review and examine the financial affairs of the Chamber and to prepare and present to the Board, at the beginning of each fiscal year, a budget of estimates of expenditures and revenue for the ensuing year

NOMINATION COMMITTEE

Chair: Past President

Purpose: to prepare a list of nominees, from the membership at large, for the office of Director to fill vacancies on the Board of Directors.

AD-HOC COMMITTEES AND TASK FORCES

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GROUP

Purpose: To act as a co-ordinating body in the presentation of training/learning events; to encourage continued training and learning within the business community; to act as a Chamber advocate and access point on business education issues as needed

 

CHAMBER AMBASSADOR COMMITTEE

Purpose: To encourage meaningful participation in the Chamber's programs and services among new members, in an effort to build member commitment and increase member retention. Ambassadors are professionals from various backgrounds who serve as a liaison between the Chamber and its members. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month.

SPECIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE

Chair: Marilyn Sullivan
Members: Chamber members at large

Purpose: To promote a positive image of the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce through community involvement and special events (i.e. Golf Tournament, Brechin Light-up, Spirit of Christmas Light-up, Spirit of Tubbing Contest, etc.) This committee meets as needed when planning events.

STERLING AWARDS COMMITTEE

Members: TBA

Purpose: To recognize Customer Service excellence by individuals and businesses; to enhance awareness of the Chamber of Commerce within the community and to provide a celebratory social event. This committee meets monthly from November through January then weekly Feb through April to plan the Sterling Awards.

TASK FORCES

Task forces are formed as needed and meet on an ad-hoc basis to work on specific agendas and report back to the Board as required.
