Membership Overview
The Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization made up of local businesses, professionals and community groups. These groups work together to ensure a healthy economic base and positive socio economic structure for the benefit of businesses and residents in the Nanaimo area. The Chamber receives no government funding and operates as a business much like any business. Membership dues and fundraising activities support our various programs and initiatives while volunteer efforts of members through committees and the Board of Directors establish and carry out our mandate.
Chamber membership provides members with the opportunity to have a positive impact on their business community and to be part of a world-wide business network. Consumers think more favourably about a business when they are a member of their local Chamber of Commerce because that infers that the company is trustworthy, connected to the community, is successful and a leader in the business community.
Currently, we are proud to have the support of approximately 700 members from the Central Vancouver Island area.
Many members belong to the Chamber even though they know they will be unable to take an active part in the organization. They realize the work of the Chamber is important to them personally and to their business. Their financial participation is important because it helps to fund those programs and activities of importance to the business community. Just like…
You don’t buy a newspaper…you buy news
You don’t buy eye glasses…you buy better vision
You don’t buy insurance…you buy security and protection
You don’t buy membership in the Chamber of Commerce…you buy the cooperation and collaboration of all the members working together to accomplish goals that you cannot reach on your own.
A comprehensive New Member Package is available in PDF (515 KB). Membership dues are dependent upon the number of people involved in the business and are pro-rated relative to your time of joining. Please contact the Chamber Office at 250-756-1191.
